Slatkin Inspires Students At FIT




Early this week, home fragrance expert Harry Slatkin spoke at the Dean’s Forum, presented by the Fashion Institute of Technology’s (FIT) Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology.


Approximately 250 FIT students heard how Slatkin made the career switch from finance to fragrance by combining business acumen and fashion sense.  Speakers at recent Dean’s Forums have included Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, and Bobbi Brown.



Crowned the “king of home fragrance” by The New York Times, Harry Slatkin is the founder of Slatkin & Co. home fragrances, launched in 1992 and sold in major retail stores in the U.S. and abroad.latkin also has created home fragrance collections for Martha Stewart, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, and Elton John. In 2005, retailer Les Wexner purchased Slatkin & Co. for Limited Brands, where Slatkin serves as president of Slatkin & Co., as well as president of Home Design for Limited Brands, overseeing product development for the home fragrance brands of Bath & Body Works, the country’s largest bath and body retailer. He received The American Society of Perfumers’ 2009 Living Legends Award, is a contributing editor at Elle Décor, and appears regularly on QVC.
